Charleston Sweeps WVIAC Softball Awards

PRINCETON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston’s Logan Tretick has been tabbed the WVIAC Player of the Week, while teammate Emily Fultz has been named the WVIAC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office.

The duo helped the Golden Eagles soar to a 3-1 start on the young season.

Tretick, a 5'7" senior outfielder from Round Hill, Va., went six-for-12 in four games with three RBI. She notched a .667 slugging percentage. Tretick had four singles and two doubles for eight total bases. Defensively, she accounted for six putouts without an error.

Fultz, a 5'10" rookie from Germantown, Ohio, went 2-0 in the circle last weekend. In 14 innings of action at the Francis Marion Invitational, she hurled a complete-game shutout against Virginia State in her first career start. In the game, she struck out 10. She then notched her second complete-game shutout in the win over Chowan on Saturday. In the contest, she fanned 13 batters. Fultz held opponents to a mere .111 batting average in her first two career starts.
