PRINCETON, W.Va. – For the second time this season the University of Charleston’s Paul "PJ" Reyes (Taylor, Mich., Univ. of South Alabama) has been named WVIAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Reyes, a 6-5 senior guard from Taylor, Mich., guided the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 week. The three victories pushed UC into third place in the WVIAC standings.
In the home win over Bluefield State, Reyes played just 21 minutes and registered 23 points to go along with four steals and a block. In the victory, he was nine-of-11 from the floor. At Shepherd, Reyes connected on 14 points, had two assists and a steal. He also knocked down two three-point shots in the five-point come-from-behind win. At Pitt-Johnstown, Reyes led the way with a game-high 26 points. He also corralled five rebounds and had two blocks in the 10-point win.
For the week, he made 25-of-45 shots from the floor (55.5 percent). Reyes is currently fifth in the league in points at 20 per game.
