CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Record setting running back
Jordan Roberts (Madison, WV) and offensive line mainstay
George Davila (Naples, FL) each earned selections to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Super Region One All-Region Second Team, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
Roberts led the Golden Eagles offense with a record breaking junior season as he finished the regular season as one of the top-10 running backs in Division II. Roberts set single-season records for rushing with 1,430 total yards, while finishing 2011 ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II with a school record 2,274 all-purpose yards. Roberts led the WVIAC in rushing by more than 30 yards per game and accounted for a conference-high 18 touchdowns.
Davilla was a keystone for the WVIAC's top rushing offense leading the way for Roberts and speedy quarterback Maurice Leak. Charleston ran for 225.5 yards per game this season with 26 touchdowns with Davilla playing a key leadership role to a young lineup that at time featured three freshman along the offensive line.
Both players return for the 2012 season as Charleston looks to turn this season's youthful 5-6 record into a postseason berth and contend for a WVIAC title.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
